Premises Licence is one of the obligations that typically applies to a licensed premises in the UK, under Licensing Act 2003 (ss.26, 136). It needs renewing on an ongoing basis, and enforcement can follow if it lapses.

How often does a licensed premises need it?

Ongoing. A premises licence has effect indefinitely (s.26) — there is NO renewal cycle; it continues until revoked, surrendered or lapsed. The recurring statutory duty attached to it is the annual fee (tracked separately). The licence (or certified copy) typically must be kept at the premises with the summary prominently displayed (s.57).

What happens if you don’t?

Carrying on a licensable activity without/against the licence is an offence (s.136): up to 6 months' imprisonment and an unlimited fine; the licence can also be reviewed and revoked (ss.51-52).
